Cancer research facilities

We are at the forefront of cancer research, working with the University of Southampton's Cancer Research UK Centre, Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre (ECMC) and Centre for Cancer Immunology.

Cancer Research UK Centre

Southampton is home to the Cancer Research UK Southampton Centre, delivering world-leading research that accelerates the transition of lab-based discovery to the clinic for the benefit of people affected by cancer.

Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre (ECMC)

Southampton ECMC is based in the WISH laboratory at University Hospital Southampton. It is internationally recognised for its expertise in delivery of early phase cancer studies. The centre has a strong global reputation in the design and delivery of studies in lymphoid malignancies, urological tumours and immunotherapy.

Centre for Cancer Immunology

In Spring 2018 the University of Southampton opened the Centre for Cancer Immunology, the UK’s first centre dedicated to cancer immunology research. Connected to leading institutions worldwide, this cutting-edge research hub enables our interdisciplinary teams to expand clinical trials, explore new areas and develop lifesaving drugs.

The NIHR Southampton Clinical Research Facility (CRF) is part of the NIHR and hosted by University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
